Patrícia Santos

Winemaker

Patrícia Santos was born in the heart of the Dão and holds a degree in Oenology from UTAD (University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro). Yet her greatest education came through the professional experience gained under the guidance of the man she regards as her mentor and foremost influence — the renowned winemaker Anselmo Mendes. A consultant and lecturer, she combines her work as an oenologist with a role on the Beira Interior Regional Wine Commission (CVR Beira Interior). She has extensive professional experience across several wine regions: Dão, Bairrada, Beira Interior, and Arribes in Spain.

Amândio Cruz

Viticulturist

Amândio Cruz has devoted more than three decades to viticulture across regions as diverse as Dão, Douro, Alentejo and the Azores. His outstanding work has been widely recognised, notably with the Viticulture 2020 award from Grandes Escolhas. He holds a degree in Agronomic Engineering from the Higher Institute of Agronomy in Lisbon, with postgraduate specialisation in fertilisation, plant nutrition and soil fertility. He combines hands-on fieldwork with extensive scientific research, while also serving in a prominent role on the Coordinating Council of Professional Activities of the Portuguese Oenology Association.

Paulo Barracosa

Biologist

Paulo Barracosa is a lecturer at the School of Agriculture of the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu. A graduate in Biology from the University of Coimbra, he holds a Master’s degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology and a PhD in Biosciences. His research focuses on the valorisation of endogenous genetic resources, with particular emphasis on the cardoon and the carob tree. His studies on the cardoon have wide applicability in the production of cheese, materials and bioactive compounds. Author of numerous scientific publications, his work spans botany, genetics, biochemistry, biotechnology and molecular biology. He is committed to developing innovative and sustainable solutions inspired by Portugal’s natural resources.
