Nelas e Santar, May 28, 2026 - Quinta da Alameda is delighted to announce its role in pioneering EcoVinePanel, an industrial research and development project co-funded by COMPETE 2030. In partnership with Movecho, this initiative sits at the cross-section of our winemaking heritage in the Dão region, cutting-edge contemporary design, and industrial engineering.
The core mission of EcoVinePanel is to upcycle and transform the organic by-products of our annual harvest — such as grape stalks, skins, and pips — into innovative, sustainable composite panels. These advanced materials are tailored for premium, high-specification applications, ranging from luxury retail shopfitting and bespoke furniture to eco-efficient packaging (including the very wooden boxes that house our finest wines).
Developed in collaboration with the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu (IPV) and ARCP CoLAB, the project also addresses one of the most pressing circular economy challenges in interior architecture: the creation of 100% bio-based adhesives and binders derived from local agroforestry waste. This breakthrough eliminates reliance on fossil-fuel chemicals without compromising the structural integrity or the refined aesthetic qualities of the finished product.
Through the EcoVinePanel initiative, Quinta da Alameda reaffirms its absolute commitment to sustainability. By ensuring that what comes from the land returns to the value chain as premium design, we demonstrate that time-honoured winemaking traditions and future-facing ecological responsibility can — and indeed must — move forward hand in hand.
