Quinta da Alameda on Antena 1: Interview on the Cardoon with Paulo Barracosa


Santar, April 27, 2024 – In an episode of Tão Longe, Tão Perto, journalist Fernando Alves interviewed Paulo Barracosa, biologist, lecturer and researcher at the School of Agrarian Studies of the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu.

According to the feature, “the conversation table was set up beside a vast cardoon plantation at Quinta da Alameda, in Santar, near Viseu. It was covered with a wide range of products incorporating the plant, from cardoon honey to cardoon mushrooms, from cardoon sausages (nicknamed cardeiras) to beer, and wine produced from vineyards cultivated with cardoon.

The interview took place in the privileged setting of Quinta da Alameda, where the vines and wine benefit from the presence of cardoon as a valuable, sustainable and multifunctional crop.
